We provide a free Self-Signed SSL certificate for all our customers with all our web hosting and reseller plans and it will cover cPanel services like (Webmail, cPanel, WHM, etc..), it's different than the paid SSL certificates like (RapidSSL, Sectigo, etc..) in the following details:
- Verification Method: Self-Signed SSL certificates uses domain validation (DV) which is a basic level of authentication using DNS, whereas other paid certificates use verification of a website owner's identity to issue certificates.
- Warranty: Paid SSL certificates are backed by insured warranties in case the encryption of the SSL fails. This insured warranty depends on the type and vendor of the SSL certificate. Self-Signed SSL certificates do not come with an insured warranty.
- Coverage: Self-Signed SSL certificates need to be renewed every 90 days. Paid certificates usually renewed every 1 year.
